Since 2005 I have been working as a Researcher in Computer Science at the University of Salento, Department of Mathematics and Physics 'Ennio De Giorgi' and part of the Algoritmica@Unisalento group and the Campi laboratory. Previously I carried out post-doctoral activities at the CNR-ISTI and CNR-IIT. I completed my PhD in Computer Science at the Galileo Galilei PhD School in Pisa. My research activity has covered various fields, both theoretical and applied. I deal with problems concerning the development of algorithmic solutions in particular in the distributed environment and their integration into cyber-physical systems. After a research activity, developed during the PhD, in the field of fault diagnosis in massively parallel systems (System Level Diagnosis) I dealt with distributed algorithms in multi-hop networks, sensor networks and currently IoT systems (Internet of things). In addition to the techniques described above, based on combinatorial optimization and linear/mixed/convex mathematical programming models, data-driven solutions have been used with various machine learning techniques. In recent years, the study of environmental monitoring systems based on the integration of IoT platforms, intermediate infrastructures (Fog Networks) and Cloud systems has been enriched with remote sensing solutions that correlate the data collected by IoT platforms on the ground, with various types of multi-spectral images provided by satellite platforms.
